It's pretty badass, that's for sure!
That guitar was an excellent choice. It was perfect for a song like Nuclear Fusion. My only gripe with the guitar is that during some sections (like around 1:15) it feels like it gets slightly cut off.
Drums were pretty powerful as well, and the bass complemented it nicely.
The piano was a nice touch; I think that without it, the song wouldn't of felt as Touhou(ish?).
Good work! I always want to listen to your stuff, SSJ.

Shiverwar responds:

Wow, I'm late to the review table, aren't I? Well, the piano is usually the star in any of my mixes or originals. It's a nice base for the entire song, if you ask me.

Sounds alright, but that may just be my headphones/speakers acting weird again.
The sound seems to get cut out somehow? I dunno why that is.
Another thing is that whistling synth noise (I don't know the proper name) that plays every 10 seconds or so. It seems to degrade the overall quality of your sound, and everything gets all jumbled for a sec. Like I said, I don't know if it's me, or if it's the song itself acting strange.

I look forward to hearing more of what you have, though!

I like you choice of instruments, and the drums are possibly my favorite in here. I can really feel through my speakers. A phenomenal arrangement.
And to think Chen's theme wasn't one of my favorites...

I'll be honest...
This scared the crap out of me. I had to look over my shoulder to make sure some sort of Demon boss wasn't behind me :P

Darknessbreaker responds:

Well at least there were no giant demon behind ya, huh? ^^

It sounds very dark. It almost makes the Elite Four seem insane! Lol.

Shiverwar responds:

I think the Gen V Elite Four was a bit kooky. xD Thank you for the review!

Well now... that is something.
Looks like I have a challenge to make something more amazing than this, and this is some top notch stuff here.

You, fine sir, deserve every five star rating placed on this.

While it's an interesting idea, I feel that chiptune just doesn't really fit with Midna's Lament. I don't know; I might be listening to it from the wrong angle. I'll give it a long listen and see if it'll grow on me over time.

What works is the bell-like instrument. If anything, it fits the mood the best.
What doesn't work is the instrument that replaced the piano. I can't explain it, but it feels... weird. In some places it feels like it gets cut off. I wish I could give a better in-depth analysis of it, but I just can't shake this feeling that it doesn't belong.

Overall, it was a good attempt at making a modern Zelda song sound like an authentic Famicom composition. I believe these four stars belong to you, good sir.

MF-Greth responds:

Thank you! Your criticisms are well thought out and much appreciated~

"It's Tricky to rock a rhyme, to rock a rhyme that's right on time
It's Tricky...it's Tricky (Tricky) Tricky (Tricky)"

Or something like that.

My favorite part has to be the 0:55 mark. So many memories about this song come rushing back.

DAT PIANO! It just makes me want to go to Gensokyo, and fly around without giving a damn about anything XD

My Goal: Remastering older video game tracks to sound softer, more "dream-like". I mainly do Touhou tracks, because they just fit my style the best. The series I cover most often after Touhou would be Castlevania, since I enjoy its music quite a bit.
