That flute?

It blew my mind.

Shiverwar responds:

That review?

It made me smile.

Sounds absolutely perfect for an RPG. I love what you did with just... everything. Great choice of instruments, perfect tempo, and amazing composition overall.

I look forward to what you have to make next.

Krichotomy responds:

Thanks! I've been rather under-the-weather, and not in the mood to work on music, but maybe something will surface sooner or later.

I love the way you handled this. I'm gonna have to listen to this a whole lot and take some notes, because this is something incredible.

Krichotomy responds:

Thanks! I do wonder if I should have totally dropped out the percussion like I did.

This was frightening at first... I felt like I was lost and couldn't find my way. But then as time went on, it became more and more hopeful, and I found what I was looking for. Excellent choice of instruments, and the pacing is quite magical. But for some reason this song felt really nostalgic to me, and I couldn't figure out why for several minutes as I sat here staring at this sentence. I realized that this song reminds me SO MUCH of Chrono Trigger. I feel it would fit absolutely perfectly in that game. Everything is just right for it.

Krichotomy responds:

I'm glad you "found what you were looking for", and I hope the looping nature of this piece didn't make you lost over and over again. :P Perhaps it reminds you of Chrono Trigger because this piece is partly based on a piece (To Zanarkand) composed by a guy (Nobuo Uematsu) who contributed to the Chrono Trigger soundtrack. I appreciate your compliments.

Honesty, I don't know how to describe this. If I could, the easiest way would be to say it sounds sort of Oriental with the instrument selection. Overall though, this was a joy to listen to, since there aren't very many good Strawberry Crisis remixes out there (from my knowledge). Only real issue here is the looping; it doesn't feel too smooth.

Anyways, this pretty sweet.

Shiverwar responds:

As I told Darknessbreaker, I did this in a different progression, but it's generally the same song. And yeah, the looping may not be very smooth, I personally blame the program for that one. As for the oriental sounds, you are correct, I did, in fact, use some instruments of that origin. I felt it would fit in well with the song. I wanted something that fit Touhou, but also could fit in well with other game franchises, so I guess you could say I was also partially inspired by Dynasty Warriors. Thanks for your review, man, and I wish I could work on some music right now.

One of my favorite songs from EoSD, and I must say, you did it justice.
I love that this song still keeps that lovely Oriental feel, but also has a good blend of Rock as well. I think ZUN would be proud.

A fantastic Orchestral version! I don't hear very many Orchestral U.N. Owens, and most of the time, they miss the magic of Flandre.
But you nailed it! Some moments its serious, and some moments are playful; exactly how U.N. Owen Was Her should be like.

So atmospheric, just like Metroid should be! It makes me want to go explore a lost ancient civilization out in the dark reaches of space, since, after all, that is what Metroid is about.
Good work here!

Sounds like something Nintendo would do, if they ever recreated the Stone Tower Temple.
I love the Brass in this one most of all though. I can't describe it; it just feels perfect.

MF-Greth responds:

Hey, thanks!

It's pretty badass, that's for sure!
That guitar was an excellent choice. It was perfect for a song like Nuclear Fusion. My only gripe with the guitar is that during some sections (like around 1:15) it feels like it gets slightly cut off.
Drums were pretty powerful as well, and the bass complemented it nicely.
The piano was a nice touch; I think that without it, the song wouldn't of felt as Touhou(ish?).
Good work! I always want to listen to your stuff, SSJ.

Shiverwar responds:

Wow, I'm late to the review table, aren't I? Well, the piano is usually the star in any of my mixes or originals. It's a nice base for the entire song, if you ask me.

My Goal: Remastering older video game tracks to sound softer, more "dream-like". I mainly do Touhou tracks, because they just fit my style the best. The series I cover most often after Touhou would be Castlevania, since I enjoy its music quite a bit.
